I am broadcasting to you live from my brand new (and very shiny) 24" iMac. My old iMac, Milo, bit the dust last Sunday -- his Logic Board died. Fortunately for me, the hard drive survived, so my new beast (currently unnamed) now carries all of my art, downloads, music, documents, et cetera, that isn't stashed on my external hard drive. They said they were just going to give me Milo's hard drive back, but for some reason they gave me the whole computer. I intend on yanking out the hard drive and getting it some form of protection -- turning it into an external drive of its own -- and then recycling or giving away the rest, which is relatively useless without a Logic Board or hard drive.
It'd be fun to rebuild it and steampunk it up or something, but I don't have the proper workshop to take a project like that on. Though lordknows I have the free time these days.
I now have a camera built right into my screen, meaning I suppose that video chats aren't out of the question. That's rather spiffy, although I imagine my cats are more amusing visually than I am.
I also have a new computer desk, bought a week ago...before Milo kicked the bucket. Because my life is ironic. Fortunately the monitor isn't too huge and fit in the new desk. The bedroom got a complete reorganization thanks to the construction of the desk, which is more or less how I spent my Thursday.
Most of the week previous I've been prodding the SO's computer and working on my classwork. I'm now a student again, poking my way through a Women's Health course. It reminds me strongly of the Human Sexuality course I took -- a psychology course that was sort of Sex Ed meets The Human Condition/Sociology. We're only two modules in, though (and the next three are birth control, pregnancy/childbirth/parenting, and sexually transmitted infections), so hopefully it will be more health-related and less sex-related by the end of the course, or at least take more intimate looks at the female influence on sexual history (The Pill, anyone? It gets only a small blurb in the book)...ah well, the course is only 8 weeks long and I've done one week and next week is Spring Break. Six weeks left -- that went fast.
Friday night at work, I sold a $2,500 coffee machine (one of these). I talked to the guy for over an hour, going over everything about all our coffee machines...I learned a lot about our expensive coffee machine selection, something I can usually leave up to our manager or assistant manager (neither was working). We don't work on commission but I'm rather pleased by this anyway because a sale (over $3,000 with the other stuff they were buying) that doubles the store's sales totals for the day is pretty amazing. And I've wanted to sell one of those coffee machines since we opened; now I finally have, hooray!
Of course, now I have nothing really to work towards. Maybe I could sell an All-Clad set next...or a Shun knife block...
And that has been my week. Sketch of the Day and my normal journal meanderings (outside of Twitter) will resume shortly!
So...how's everyone been?
